Julian Edelman: Tom Brady ‘Fired Up,’ ‘Ticked Off’ About Deflategate

If recent comments from Tom Brady’s current and former teammates are any indication, 2015 could be a bad season for the quarterback’s opponents.

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman caught up with reporters Saturday morning during a football clinic for kids at Reading Memorial High School, and it didn’t take long before the discussion turned to Brady.

“He’s fired up — we’ll say that,” Edelman said, via ESPN.com. “You don’t want a mad Tom Brady, and he’s a little ticked off.”

The source of Brady’s ire, of course, is Deflategate, the ongoing saga that still hasn’t been resolved with training camp just 10 days away. Brady might not get a ruling on his four-game suspension until the end of July, and he’ll reportedly take the matter to federal court if any suspension holds.

Rodney Harrison seems to agree with Edelman, as the former Patriots safety said recently that Brady will “make everybody pay” whenever he returns to the field in 2015.

The lingering uncertainty surrounding Brady’s status obviously is quite a distraction, but in typical Patriots fashion, Edelman said he’s blocking out the noise.

“I’m not really thinking about that right now,” Edelman added. “I have 10 more days to get ready for camp and I’m going to worry about what I can do to put myself in the best situation to help this team. Whatever happens, it happens. I’m sure our coaches will have their thing and have us prepared either way.”

Second-year QB Jimmy Garoppolo likely will take the reigns if Brady misses any time, but one thing remains clear: When the 37-year-old returns to action, just get out of his way.
