Narrowing the massive list of Boston Red Sox legends down to one Mount Rushmore of greatness is no easy task, but that’s exactly what voters were tasked with doing this season.

Major League Baseball on Tuesday announced the “Franchise Four” for each of its 30 teams in a ceremony before first pitch of the 2015 MLB All-Star game in Cincinnati.

Representing the Red Sox were Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Pedro Martinez and David Ortiz — three Hall of Famers and another player in Ortiz who could very well end up in Cooperstown one day, as well.

The four honorees were chosen from a pool of eight finalists that also included Jim Rice, Dwight Evans, Carlton Fisk and Cy Young. Rice, Fisk and Young all have been enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
