Red Sox Roll Out Familiar Lineup For Game 1 Of Doubleheader Vs. Angels

If the Boston Red Sox’ starting lineup for Game 1 of Monday’s doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels looks familiar, it’s because it’s the same exact lineup that was posted Sunday night.

Mother Nature threw a wrench into the teams’ plans Sunday, forcing the first rainout at Angel Stadium of Anaheim since 1995. The Red Sox and Angels will make up for lost time by playing two games Monday. Boston, as expected, will deploy its right-handed-heavy lineup against lefty Hector Santiago.

Mike Napoli and Shane Victorino will start at first base and right field, respectively, for Game 1. Napoli, of course, has struggled mightily this season, so every game’s extra important for his future.

The Red Sox will face another southpaw, Andrew Heaney, in Game 2, but don’t expect second baseman Dustin Pedroia to start both games. Pedroia, who said Sunday night he’d play three games Monday if necessary, just came off the disabled list after battling a hamstring injury for the first time in his career. He’ll sit to begin the nightcap, manager John Farrell told reporters before Game 1.

Game 1 starts at 5 p.m. ET. Game 2 is scheduled to kick off at 10 p.m. ET. Both games are on NESN.
