The New England Patriots are no strangers to distractions both on and off the football field, and sometimes that can be a motivating tool for players.

But Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski insists DeflateGate won’t be one of those distractions this season.

“Just gotta worry about myself and worry about what I gotta do to help out the team the most and worry about my job,” Gronkowski told Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio on Tuesday. “Just gotta take all the outside distractions and just block them. Put a block on all that, whatever it is, whatever’s going on, and just worry what I gotta do in order to help out the team.”

Gronkowski also says the Patriots aren’t planning on using the controversy as a motivation tactic. According to him, the Patriots stay motivated all season, so there’s no need for it.

“We just want to be humble, we just want to go in every single day, from the first day of camp, through camp, preseason, first game, we just want to keep just grinding, just worry about what’s ahead of us that day, and just do our own job,” Gronkowski said.

So while Deflategate is far from over, Gronkowski and the Patriots appear focused on this upcoming season and not on the distractions.
