David Ortiz is one step closer to joining the 500 club.

The Boston Red Sox designated hitter launched his 495th career home run onto the Green Monster in the fourth inning of Monday night’s game against the New York Yankees. In fact, the 1-1 pitch off Ivan Nova landed pretty close to the home run counter the Red Sox just put up for Ortiz.

It was Ortiz’s 29th homer of 2015.

Ortiz has 31 games left after Monday to reach the milestone, so there’s a pretty solid chance he’ll be able to do it this season. It certainly would prove to be a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster year for the Red Sox.
