The homer was the 490th of the Boston Red Sox slugger’s career, putting him just three behind Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff for 27th all-time and tying him with Reggie Jackson for 23rd on the all-time extra-base hit list.

Nine of Ortiz’s 24 home runs this season have come after the All-Star break, and the 39-year-old now has gone yard in four of his last seven games.
