Jared Sullinger’s Trainer Says Celtics Forward In For ‘Special Season’

It’s the same old song and dance: “Jared Sullinger is going to have a big year.”

The 2012 first-round draft choice hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in his three seasons with the Boston Celtics. Injuries and struggles with his weight have kept him off the court at times and hurt his effectiveness at others.

Seemingly every fall, the same narrative is passed around: Sullinger looks like he’s in great shape. He should have a great year.

So, with Celtics training camp about two months away, the narrative begins again — this time from Sullinger’s personal trainer, John Lucas.

Whether we should take this with a grain of salt or jump for joy is a toss up, as are our expectations for Sullinger’s development. That said, good news is better than bad news.

Let’s just hope Sullinger has Celtics fans singing a different tune than normal this October.
