We didn’t really need affirmation of how much a fractured ankle must hurt, but Lindsey Vonn gave it anyway.
The Olympic skier was injured Thursday when she crashed during training with the United States Ski Team in New Zealand, suffering what she called “a small fracture.” Vonn returned to Colorado for treatment and could even return before racing season begins in December.
But that doesn’t mean the injury to her left foot looks pretty.

Ouch.
Vonn had been in New Zealand since the end of July, her first time back on the slopes since her breakup from Tiger Woods. And Woods hasn’t had much better luck since then, either. The 14-time major champion has missed the cut at all three majors since the breakup, most recently in last weekend’s PGA Championship.
