FOXBORO, Mass. — The training camp injuries slowly are piling up for the New England Patriots.

Running back Tyler Gaffney and offensive lineman Kevin Hughes were newly absent for Day 4 of camp Sunday morning. Gaffney took a huge hit from defensive tackle Sealver Siliga but stayed in practice Saturday. Hughes walked off the field midway through Saturday’s session with what appeared to be a shoulder injury.

Quarterback Matt Flynn, offensive lineman Caylin Hauptmann and defensive lineman Alan Branch remain on the non-football injury list and sat out of practice. Wide receivers Matthew Slater and Brandon LaFell, linebackers Dane Fletcher and Chris White, offensive lineman Ryan Wendell and defensive linemen Vince Taylor and Chris Jones remain on the physically unable to perform list and didn’t participate in practice.

Tight end AJ Derby, who has been out since Friday, also wasn’t present for practice.

Linebackers Dont’a Hightower and Xzavier Dickson wore red non-contact jerseys.

The Patriots didn’t have any new players on the field after cutting cornerbacks Justin Green and Derek Cox and linebacker D.J. Lynch on Friday.
