Jay Gruden has received all sorts of criticism for his handling of Robert Griffin III this preseason, and he’s OK with that.

But one reporter’s comment apparently tipped the scales for the Washington Redskins coach.

Gruden addressed the media after a recent practice and was asked if he listens to all the scrutiny or just tunes it out. In his response, he called out one critic who supposedly called him fat.

“I really dislike the guy that called me a fat ass,” Gruden said, via The Washington Post. “That really ticked me off. I don’t mind you critiquing my coaching style, but to make fun of my weight, that’s unfair. I’m only 225 (pounds).”

The video of Gruden’s remarks clearly shows he makes the comments in jest, but the ire he has drawn so far this preseason is no laughing matter.

Gruden opted to keep Griffin in for several series during a preseason game against the Detroit Lions despite the quarterback taking several brutal hits. RGIII later was diagnosed with a concussion, leading many to accuse Gruden of hanging his QB out to dry.

Fortunately for Gruden, it appears he has thick skin.
