The Chicago Blackhawks forward is the subject of a police investigation in the Buffalo, N.Y., area, two sources with knowledge of the investigation told the Buffalo News. Sources told Buffalo’s WKBW-TV that police are investigating an alleged incident involving Kane and a woman that began at a bar in Evans, N.Y.

The ongoing investigation is taking place roughly 20 minutes south of Buffalo in the town of Hamburg, N.Y. Kane has a residence in Hamburg.

According to The Buffalo News, Hamburg police have been tight-lipped when asked for comment.

“We can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of a criminal investigation until such a time as a person is charged with a crime,” Hamburg Police Chief Gregory G. Wickett told the paper.

The Buffalo News filed two Freedom of Information Law requests in an attempt to access the weekend’s police blotter, but it could take up to 20 days for those to be approved.

Kane’s not facing any charges at the moment, and the report states it’s unknown if he’s been questioned by the police.

Kane, a Buffalo native, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a cab driver.
