New York City FC is only in its first season, but its rivalry with the New York Red Bulls already looks pretty heated.

The third New York “derby” took place Sunday, as the two teams squared off at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., but things got a little crazy beforehand. Fans gathered across the street at Bello’s Bar & Grill started a brawl, in which one fan hit another with with a sandwich board and others pelted each other with bags of garbage.

Police sirens were enough to slow down the fracas, though.

While this American soccer brawl isn’t exactly to the scale of some European ones, we definitely wouldn’t want to be caught in the middle of that.
