The New York Jets’ problems, as they so often do, extended beyond the gridiron in Week 3.

The son of Jets tight ends coach Jimmie Johnson evidently was in New York’s locker room at some point Sunday and sent a few ill-advised tweets. Screenshots posted by several outlets, including Yahoo! Sports’ Shutdown Corner blog, show Johnson’s son ripping quarterback Geno Smith and cornerback Antonio Cromartie, which the latter even noticed and responded to on Twitter.

Cromartie didn’t like Johnson’s son tweeting about his family, especially in a snarky manner, and thus responded with the following tweet.

And don’t expect an apology from Cromartie anytime soon, regardless of his work relationship with Johnson. Cromartie made it clear he’s not backing down in this fight.

“I’m not going to apologize for what I said in regards to my kids,” Cromartie told TMZ Sports. “You don’t take a picture of my kids and talk trash. People are constantly talking about me and I never say anything. I am a father, and I love all my kids, and I will not allow anyone to disrespect them.

“Again, you can talk about me all you want, but my kids are off limits. You just don’t play with people’s kids. His actions were unacceptable and hopefully he learned that.”

It appears Johnson’s son did learn, as an additional screenshot reveals he apologized. His Twitter account also has changed drastically, so he could be taking a much-needed break from social media.
