It’s too early to crown any highlight the “play of the year” just yet. But Aaron Burbridge made a pretty strong case Saturday afternoon.

The Michigan State wide receiver went horizontal in the second quarter of the Spartans’ game against Air Force to haul in an incredible 28-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Connor Cook.

Burbridge’s catch was so unbelievable that the referees initially ruled it incomplete. Yet a video replay showed the senior wideout somehow contorted his body to tap his left foot in bounds, and the refs overturned the call to rule it a TD.

Burbridge didn’t stop there, however, snagging a 32-yard touchdown pass from Cook later in the quarter and adding a third TD reception early in the second half.

Michigan State beat Air Force 35-21.
