Rex Ryan Takes Aim At Steelers: Bills Will Have Defenders On Rob Gronkowski

FOXBORO, Mass. — Rob Gronkowski is not easy to cover. But the Pittsburgh Steelers took that to a whole new level during their 28-21 loss to the New England Patriots last Thursday.

Gronkowski scored three touchdowns in the win, and on one of them, the Steelers failed to cover the tight end with a single defender. That led to an easy 16-yard touchdown for Gronk, who finished with 94 receiving yards.

Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan is familiar with covering Gronkowski from his days with the New York Jets, and he knows it usually helps to try covering the tight end, at the very least.

“Obviously you don’t just put one guy on this guy. That has been proven,” Ryan said during a conference call with the New England media Wednesday. “I will say this though: it is better to put one guy on him than nobody on him. This just in. So we will try to put … we will try to have somebody on him at least.”

That’s probably a good call by Ryan.
