The first touchdown of the 2015 NFL season might have also featured the season’s biggest spike.
The New England Patriots were held scoreless in the first quarter of the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Tom Brady wasted little time finding one of his favorite targets in the second quarter.
Brady and Gronkowski connected on a 16-yard touchdown pass with 11:11 to play in the second quarter for the first score of the season to put New England out in front.
The score was set up by a 19-yard pitch-and-catch from the same combination on the play before. The Steelers didn’t help matters with a curious decision to leave Gronkowski all alone out wide on the right side of the field.
At 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds, it seems like the Patriots tight end might be hard to forget, but the Steelers certainly found a way.
