Rule No. 1 is jersey making should be pretty obvious: Make sure you spell the names right.

Whether it’s on the front, the back or the sides of the jersey, misspelling a name is a huge mistake. Tottenham Hotspur apparently didn’t get the memo.

The Premier League soccer club had hockey royalty in the house Wednesday when NHL legend Wayne Gretzky dropped by ahead of the club’s match with Arsenal. They even went as far as to present Gretzky with a Spurs jersey of his own.

The only problem, you see, is they misspelled Gretzky’s name on the jersey, instead referring to The Great One as “Gretsky.” Whoops.

Making matters even worse is Tottenham’s official Twitter account tweeted the photo and used Gretzky’s handle — with the correct spelling, of course — in the (quickly deleted) tweet.

Wayne Gretzky, Tottenham Hotspur

Come on, you Spurs … be better.

UPDATE (3:46 p.m. ET) : Spurs have apologized.
