A sad story came out of Dallas on Tuesday, after a former Texas A&M wide receiver admitted to randomly murdering a jogger, but the New York Post didn’t waste any time being insensitive.
According to The Associated Press, 21-year-old Thomas Johnson called 911 after he killed the man with a “large-edged weapon” early Monday and is being held without bail. Johnson played for the Aggies in 2012.
But the Post made its headline about a different A&M Aggie.
Johnson allegedly told police that he was angry about where he was in life and had just been put out of his home, per CBS News. He also disappeared days after helping A&M beat top-ranked Alabama in 2012, only to appear at his family’s home three days later. Neither the school nor his family commented on his situation, and Johnson never played football again.
But yeah, this story definitely is about Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel and not about a tragic murder or a kid going through a very serious situation.
