Alex Rodriguez received some special news Thursday.
The New York Yankees designated hitter was named a finalist for American League Comeback Player of the Year thanks to his resurgence after being suspended for performance-enhancing drugs.
“The people have recognized what he has done on the field and not let what’s happened in the past cloud their judgment,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said on “Red Sox Gameday Live” before New York hosted the Boston Red Sox on Thursday. “For whatever reason, you don’t have good years or you don’t play, it comes up for a lot of different reasons.
“But he has been extremely important to our club and extremely important to our clubhouse.”
