The Boston College Eagles will be looking to extend a five-game home winning streak over conference rival North Carolina State when they play host to the Wolfpack on Saturday as four-point betting underdogs at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Eagles are coming off a disastrous October in which they posted five consecutive straight-up losses, all against conference opponents, dropping them to 0-6 SU on the season and last place in the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division standings.

Boston College’s offensive woes also have continued, averaging just 9.6 points per game during its current losing skid, while the defense has surrendered almost 26 points per game over its last three after giving up just 43 total points over its first six contests.

The passing game has been a particularly weak spot for Boston College, with freshman pivots Jeff Smith and John Fadule combining to generate just 345 total passing yards and one touchdown in six games since starter Darius Wade was sidelined with a broken ankle in mid-September.

Things won’t get easier for BC’s passers in Saturday afternoon’s Wolfpack vs. Eagles betting matchup at Alumni Stadium.

Even after giving up 383 passing yards in last week’s 56-41 loss to Clemson, NC State still owns the 13th-ranked pass defense in the nation, holding opponents to an average of 173.9 passing yards per game and just 127.7 yards per game in the three contests prior to its loss to the undefeated Tigers.

But the Wolfpack have also struggled in conference play this season, going 1-3 both SU and against the spread, and with a 5-3 overall record still need a win to ensure bowl eligibility this season.

With matchups against Florida State, North Carolina and Syracuse, who can remain in contention for bowl eligibility with a SU win over Louisville on Saturday, North Carolina State will be a highly motivated squad this weekend.

The Wolfpack will have to overcome historical trends, however, most notably an all-time 0-5 SU and ATS record in visits to Boston College, with the Eagles picking up wins by double-digit margins in four of those meetings according to the OddsShark College Football Database.

In other ACC college football betting action, first place in the ACC Atlantic will be on the line when the Tigers, fresh off opening at No. 1 on the College Football Playoff rankings, battle No. 17 Florida State as 12 1/2-point chalk, while the Cardinals are favored by 14 points over the Orange, and the Duke Blue Devils are eight-point underdogs in their Victory Bell clash with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.
