Bryce Harper’s Pronunciation Of ‘Meme’ Is Hilariously Wrong (Video)

Bryce Harper is a driven athlete, a busy man and presumably popular fellow. So you can excuse him if he’s not completely hip to the Internet lingo.

The Washington Nationals outfielder was named the unanimous choice for National League Most Valuable Player on Thursday night. With that, obviously, comes what must seem like an unending media tour.

Part of that media tour included a vist with Scott Van Pelt on “SportsCenter.” The conversation wrapped up with a fun hypothetical about whether Harper essentially would trade his hair for his power. Harper declined to answer, saying he didn’t want any Internet “memes” popping up.

Thing is, he pronounced “meme” in a very peculiar way.

Of course, the accepted pronunciation is “meem,” but like we said, Harper’s got a few other things on his plate like being one of the best baseball players in the world. So the joke’s on us, really.

The irony is that this whole thing is surely going to start some memes of its own.
