Nick Saban Goes Off On Media With Over-The-Top Rant At News Conference (Video)

Nick Saban isn’t afraid to make himself look like a bully, especially if he’s trying to get his team’s attention.

The University of Alabama head coach is one of the best coaches in America, but sometimes you have to wonder where his people skills rank. Saban gave another example of his sometimes icy personality during a news conference Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide is gearing up for a game with FCS program Charleston Southern on Saturday. The Buccaneers are good — at the FCS level, at least — entering the matchup with a very nice 9-1 record.

Even if everyone, including Las Vegas and its 20 1/2-point spread favoring Alabama, expects Saban’s team to win, the head coach isn’t getting ahead of himself.

Which might explain his Wednesday rant. The head coach was asked a fairly innocent question about the Charleston Southern quarterback and he turned it into an epic rant, basically ignoring the question and going in an entirely different direction.

The game Saban is referencing is from 2011, a matchup against BCS school Georgia Southern. Alabama allowed the Eagles to run for 302 yards on 39 carries in a game that was probably closer than it should have been. Even so, Alabama still rolled to a 45-21 win.

‘Bama probably shouldn’t be on upset alert regardless this week, but Wednesday’s news conference should ensure Saban’s players aren’t taking Saturday’s game lightly.
