FOXBORO, Mass. — Jamie Collins wasn’t back at practice Wednesday, but the New England Patriots linebacker could be nearing a return.

Collins, who hadn’t been spotted at Gillette Stadium since Nov. 8 because of an illness, had been at his locker in the Patriots’ facility. His chair was unfolded, and he had a backpack by his locker.

Patriots teammates told ESPN’s Michele Steele it was nice to have the linebacker back in the building. Collins also posted a Snapchat photo of him and wide receiver Julian Edelman in the Patriots’ training room.

Cornerback Justin Coleman (hand) and wide receivers Matthew Slater (not injury related), Aaron Dobson (ankle) and Edelman (foot) also didn’t participate in Wednesday’s walk-through.

Receiver Danny Amendola, who reportedly suffered a sprained knee Sunday night in the Patriots’ 20-13 win over the Buffalo Bills, was present for the unpadded practice, but he appeared to be wearing a brace on his left knee. He didn’t participate in the walk-through.
