The New England Patriots stayed busy on their off day, working out nine free agents Tuesday.

The Patriots tried out running backs Dominique Brown and Marion Grice, wide receivers Andre Davis, and Antwan Goodley, tight ends Joseph Fauria and Justin Tukes, defensive end Glenn Foster and defensive backs Chris Greenwood and Jonathan Mincy, according to a source.

Fauria, who previously spent time with the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals, is the nephew of WEEI co-host and former Patriots tight end Christian Fauria. The younger Fauria has 24 career receptions for 281 yards with eight touchdowns after going undrafted out of UCLA in 2013.

The Patriots lost Dion Lewis for the season with a torn ACL last week, which explains why they’re showing interest in available running backs. Wide receiver Julian Edelman reportedly is expected to be out six to eight weeks after suffering a broken foot.

The Patriots didn’t sign any of the nine players by Tuesday at 4 p.m. Instead, they added wide receiver Chris Harper from their practice squad and cut offensive lineman Chris Barker. They currently have an open spot on their 10-man practice squad.
