Stopping the New England Patriots’ high-powered offense might be even harder than originally anticipated for the Denver Broncos.

Broncos linebacker DeMarcus Ware aggravated a back injury in Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Ware is expected to miss two to four weeks, a source told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, meaning his status for Denver’s Week 12 game against New England is in jeopardy.

The same injury caused Ware to miss a game earlier this season, so it’s no surprise Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak expressed “concern” Monday while speaking with reporters. Ware exited Sunday’s game in Indianapolis just before halftime and did not return in the second half.

“I know he wasn’t feeling very good after the game at all,” Kubiak said. “I talked to him via text kind of bus-to-bus when we were coming from the airport back home (Sunday night). He told me he was feeling better. We start over (Monday) and we’ll have to see how much ground we can make up.’’

The Broncos will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. They’ll then travel to Chicago to face the Bears in Week 11 on Nov. 22 before returning home to host the Patriots on Nov. 29.

Ware leads the Broncos with 6.5 sacks in seven games this season.
