Reports: Rob Gronkowski Suffered No Structural Damage; Patriots Optimistic

The New England Patriots might have dodged a very costly bullet when it comes to tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Gronkowski left Sunday night’s loss to the Denver Broncos with a knee injury. Although the hulking tight end was carted off the field after having his legs taken out from underneath him, it doesn’t sound like he suffered a major injury. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Gronkowski is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, and a source said, “We think he is going to be OK.”

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport also reported Gronkowski suffered no structural damage to his knee, and “his time out should be minimal.”

The reports just seems to reinforce multiple reports that surfaced shortly after the Patriots-Broncos game ended. Both Schefter and Rapoport reported the Patriots didn’t believe Gronkowski’s knee injury to be serious.

Gronkowski also was seen walking from the X-ray room Sunday night without any real noticeable limp and also was spotted inside the Patriots’ locker room walking around after the game. However, the Patriots likely won’t know for sure until Gronkowski undergoes his MRI.
