Welcome to the score sheet, Zac Rinaldo.
The fourth-line winger finally registered his first point as a member of the Boston Bruins on Monday after going without one in his first 17 games of the season.
James Reimer of the Toronto Maple Leafs was the victimized netminder as Rinaldo threaded a wrist shot between goalie and post. Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg and goalie Tuukka Rask assisted on the tally, giving Rask his first point of the season.
“I got a nice flip by Seids there, it landed perfectly right behind me,” Rinaldo told NESN rinkside reporter Sarah Davis during first intermission. “I reached back and took a shot on net, and it went low glove there.”
Rinaldo grew up just outside Toronto in Mississauga, Ontario, and his parents just so happened to be in attendance for the Bruins’ first game of the season at the Air Canada Centre.
“My old man’s probably losing his mind right now,” he told Davis, “and my mom’s keeping him content. Hopefully, they’re having a good time up there.”
The goal was the ninth of Rinaldo’s career and his first since March 14.
