Berkshire Bank Faceoff: Torey Krug Will Not Play For Bruins Vs. Senators

The Boston Bruins will be without defenseman Torey Krug on Sunday as they begin a home-and-home series with the Ottawa Senators.

Krug left Saturday night’s loss to the Buffalo Sabres in the first period after suffering an undisclosed injury. He has played in all 34 of the Bruins’ games this season but did not travel with the team to Ottawa, according to multiple reports.

Either Joe Morrow or Zach Trotman will replace Krug in the lineup.

Boston will look to right the ship Sunday after consecutive defeats. The Bruins were shut out by the St. Louis Blues in their final game before Christmas, then surrendered five unanswered third-period goals in a 6-3 loss to the Sabres.

The Senators have lost six of their last nine but are expected to have top-line winger Bobby Ryan back for Sunday’s game. Ryan, who has 32 points in 34 games this season, missed Ottawa’s last contest with a finger injury.

UPDATE (4:40 p.m.): Morrow and Trotman both returned to the lineup, with Colin Miller sitting out. Forward Max Talbot also replaced Tyler Randell on the fourth line after serving his two-game suspension.
