The New England Patriots are never completely satisfied, even when they win.
The Denver Broncos handed the Pats their first loss Sunday, but head coach Bill Belichick said losing doesn’t change the team’s focus. In fact, they’re always looking to improve, even when they had won 10 straight games before this weekend.
“We treat every game the same,” Belichick said during a conference call Tuesday. “We win a game, but there are still things we need to improve in. We lose a game, there are things we need to improve in and there are things we did well, even though the outcome wasn’t what we wanted it to be.”
Belichick added that though one can look back and say changes to a few key plays from Sunday’s game could have affected the outcome, the same goes for wins, too. Either way, the Patriots aren’t dealing with any more challenges before they face the Philadelphia Eagles this week than they do any other week.
“We’re really always looking to try to improve, to try to fix our problems, to try to build on our strengths, and there are always things that we have to deal with weekly in terms of making adjustments and fluctuations on the roster and matching up against new opponents and so forth,” Belichick said. “We always have to deal with that.”
