NESN.com wanted to give Boston Bruins fans the ultimate holiday gift, so we pored through our archives, where we stumbled upon hours of Bobby Orr highlights. We watched them all, just for you. Tough job, right?

Starting today through Christmas Day, NESN.com will roll out 12 awesome Orr plays for Bruins fans to enjoy. These aren’t Orr’s greatest plays, although they are great. They’re the ones that caught our eye as we watched Orr sail through and around opponents, slap and snipe shots past helpless goalies, set up teammates with on-the-tape passes and deny foes the chance to beat the Big, Bad Bruins.

We drop the puck on “The 12 Days Of Orr” with one of No. 4’s biggest achievements: He became the first NHL defenseman to record a 100-point season on March 15, 1970, when he scored a short-handed goal against the Detroit Red Wings. You can watch the quintessential Orr play, complete with befuddled Red Wings players and the original game call, in the video player above.

Orr finished the season with 120 points (he topped 100 five other times in his career) and the Hart, Norris, Conn Smythe and Art Ross trophies. More importantly, Orr and the B’s walked away with the Stanley Cup.
