A Chipotle restaurant in Boston is reportedly responsible for making several players on the Boston College men’s basketball team sick, and you might think that would disappoint Danny Ainge. You’d be wrong.
The Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has been known to frequent the fast-food Mexican chain, including one franchise that’s a short drive from the team’s practice facility in Waltham, Mass.
With controversy surrounding his favorite burrito chain, Ainge was asked Thursday during his weekly appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher & Rich” morning show whether the threat of illness would scare him away. He didn’t hesitate to make a quick joke.
He’s probably right about that — avoiding long lines usually is difficult at most Chipotle locations, especially around lunchtime, but this outbreak probably will probably keep some customers away for a while. Ainge won’t be one of them.
He’s even earned one of the strangest nicknames imaginable around the practice facility:
As for the Celtics, Ainge’s most important concern, they are doing just fine. The C’s have won six of their last eight games entering Friday night’s showdown with the undefeated Golden State Warriors and are just a half-game back of the Toronto Raptors for the Atlantic Division lead.
