The NHL Winter Classic is a homecoming for Montreal Canadiens goalie Mike Condon.

Condon grew up in Needham, Mass., 30 minutes away from Gillette Stadium, which will host the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens on New Year’s Day. And his Winter Classic helmet includes a nod to one of the teams that plays at Gillette full time — the New England Patriots.

Swedish painter David Gunnarsson designed the helmet, but not before Condon gave him a few instructions about what he wanted on the back.

“Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, four Super Bowls, and the team motto: Do Your Job,” Condon told NHL.com.

The result? An awesome helmet that New England sports fans certainly can appreciate. Well, the back of the helmet at least.
