Tom Brady made headlines Tuesday for what he chose not to say about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The two have been friends since 2002, and Brady has said previously it “would be great” if Trump became president. When asked again in a radio interview Tuesday, Brady said “I support all my friends in everything they do.”

Trump, of course, has made negative headlines in recent weeks given his stances on immigration, refugees and religious freedom. Brady had a chance to back away from his support of Trump and didn’t, so the New York Daily News took advantage of an opportunity to put the New England Patriots quarterback on blast.

The problem is, if that headline were true, Brady probably would have bashed Trump. He never said he agreed with Trump’s politics, just that the two remain friends and he supports Trump in his endeavors. It took bigger peanuts for Brady to say what he did.

Brady’s team also clinched the AFC East for the seventh consecutive season, and can lock up a first-round bye this weekend. We guess the Daily News just ran out of things to write about.
