The NHL Winter Classic is a special event, right on down to the jerseys.
The New Year’s Day tradition returns Friday with a matchup between the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. And the outdoor hockey rink won’t be the only thing different when these rivals take the ice.
Both the B’s and Habs will wear special throwback uniforms for the marquee game, a tradition that dates to the first Winter Classic in 2008 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres.
So before the 2016 game gets underway, we went through all the 14 previous Winter Classic jerseys and ranked them from worst to first.
