FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots boosted their defensive tackle depth one day after placing Dominique Easley on injured reserve.

The Patriots signed veteran defensive tackle Ishmaa’ily Kitchen to their 53-man roster. Kitchen spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns before being waived Sept. 1. He was signed by the Detroit Lions on Oct. 8 and was cut Oct. 23. Kitchen was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2012.

Kitchen has 78 career tackles in 41 games at defensive tackle. The 6-foot-1, 330-pound defender worked out for the Patriots on Sept. 21.

Patriots assistant to the coaching staff Mike Lombardi was Cleveland’s general manager in 2013 and 2014 while Kitchen was on the Browns. The Patriots also have former Browns defensive end Jabaal Sheard, running back Dion Lewis, linebacker Eric Martin and wide receiver Brian Tyms on their roster. Lewis and Tyms are on injured reserve.

Kitchen joins Alan Branch, Malcom Brown, Akiem Hicks and Sealver Siliga on the Patriots’ defensive tackle depth chart.
