Rajon Rondo’s experience in Mexico City was cut unceremoniously short Thursday night.

The Sacramento Kings point guard, facing his former team, the Boston Celtics, for the first time in a Kings uniform, picked up two quick technical fouls and was ejected from the game midway through the third quarter.

It all started when Rondo didn’t agree with a foul call on Sacramento big man DeMarcus Cousins and had some choice words for referee Bill Kennedy. Kennedy hit Rondo with a technical foul, and the 29-year-old wasn’t too pleased with this development.

Rondo walked over to Kennedy to give him a mean stare down, and apparently that was enough for the referee to pull the trigger and toss him.

The former Celtic got even more heated after his ejection, needing several Kings players to restrain him from Kennedy.

Perhaps the quick trigger was a blessing in disguise, as it ended an ugly night for Rondo. The point guard tallied eight assists but finished with just five points and four turnovers and shot 2 for 6 from the floor in 24 minutes of action.
