ORIGINAL POST: It seems as though the Super Bowl 50 halftime show is taking it down a notch.

The Wall Street Journal’s Dennis K. Berman and Hannah Karp reported Thursday that Coldplay will headline the concert at Levi’s Stadium in February, citing people familiar with the situation. The news comes just as frontman Chris Martin and his band are about to release their seventh album, “A Head Full of Dreams,” on Friday.

Coldplay reportedly beat out the likes of Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift, but don’t expect the halftime show to be all slow jams. Bruno Mars and Beyoncé, who’s featured on one of Coldplay’s new songs, also are rumored to be making appearances, per the Wall Street Journal. Plus, the NFL likely has plenty of surprise guests planned for Super Bowl 50.
