Tom Coughlin doesn’t seem like a guy who gets excited very often, but still being very much in the playoff hunt despite a 5-7 record will make you do some weird things.

The New York Giants coach was in a relatively positive mood Thursday when meeting with reporters. The feeling was warranted, too, as the Giants — who lost Sunday in overtime to the New York Jets — didn’t lose any ground in the NFC East after the Washington Redskins lost to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.

Coughlin was asked his reaction to seeing that happen, and he responded by doing some calisthenics.

The Giants are technically in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC East with Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants do have their work cut out for them the rest of the way, though. After traveling to Miami on Monday night, they’re back home to take on the undefeated Carolina Panthers, on the road to take on Minnesota before finishing the season at home against Philadelphia.
