Canucks, Panthers Nearly Brawl After Vancouver’s Overtime Win (Video)

The Vancouver Canucks once again found themselves in a brouhaha Monday night.

The Canucks have been no strangers to on-ice issues in recent years (just ask the Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins or Calgary Flames), and on Monday night, it was the Florida Panthers’ turn to get in on the fun.

The red-hot Panthers suffered a rare loss when Daniel Sedin scored an overtime goal to win the game. That’s where things got real interesting, though. Vancouver captain Henrik Sedin skated by the Florida bench with some words for the Panthers, and Derek Dorsett wasn’t far behind. Dorsett shoved Florida backup goalie Al Montoya, and that set the stage for a bit of a throwdown.

According to The Province in Vancouver, the Sedin twins might have been fired up about something said to them on the ice before overtime.

“It’s one guy, that’s it,” Henrik said, per The Province. “It was inappropriate and it’s something we hear a lot of.

“Somewhere, you need to draw a line. There’s a line.”

Also according to The Province, the “one guy” might have been Panthers forward Shawn Thornton. The Florida tough guy could be seen exchanging words with one or both of the Sedins late in the game.

“As for what was said,” The Province story reads, “the word I got after the game was that it was something along the lines of ‘same sisters’ which I took to mean ‘you’re still the same old sisters’ from the way it was presented to me.”

Unfortunately, Monday’s game was the final matchup between these two teams this season.
