Oregon State Basketball Player Appears To Intentionally Trip Ref, Is Ejected (Video)

Tripping a referee, generally speaking, is a bad idea. Oregon State basketball player Jarmal Reid must have missed that memo, though.

Reid was ejected Sunday night in the Beavers’ eventual loss to Utah after he appeared to intentionally trip a referee, which is a pretty big no-no.

Reid’s actions seemed to stem from frustration after not getting a call while chasing after a loose ball. He dove on the floor with plenty of contact with a Utah player before eventually passing the ball up the court to a teammate.

Reid appeared to look right at the official closest to the play and then stick out his right leg, tripping the official as he ran up the court.

The move couldn’t have come at a worse time, as it happened in a 52-52 game with under three minutes to play. Reid obviously was ejected, and Utah went on to win the game.

The incident also led to this fantastic photograph of referee Tommy Nunez yelling at Reid.

We’ll go out on a limb and say there probably will be a little more fallout for Reid.
