Nearly a year after the Deflategate debacle, there almost was another issue with footballs in a playoff game at Gillette Stadium this past weekend.

The NFL officials tasked with bringing the kicking balls and gauges to the New England Patriots-Kansas City Chiefs AFC Divisional Playoff on Saturday forgot the equipment at a Boston hotel, according to Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio. Since footballs are pretty important in football games, the police had to get them from the hotel and deliver them to Gillette Stadium in time for kickoff.

Procopio said the officials alerted the Hyatt at Logan International Airport around 2:30 P.M. ET that they had left the equipment behind, and State Police Detective Lieutenant Thomas Coffey brought the balls and gauges to Foxboro, Mass., roughly an hour before gametime.

Phew. Crisis averted.
