Angel Collinson knows better than most how dangerous skiing can be, and how lucky she is to be alive.

Collinson survived a long, harrowing fall on a mountain in Alaska’s Neacola range last April. Video footage of her 1,000-plus-foot tumble has surfaced on the Internet after Teton Gravity Research released it as part of “Safety Week.”

Collinson, 25, skis professionally on big mountains. On Wednesday, she told ABC’s “Good Morning America” what caused her to fall and how she escaped with only jammed fingers and some cuts.

Sometimes, it’s better to be lucky than good. In Collinson’s case, it’s best she was both lucky and good.
