Report: Patriots Like Ohio State’s Braxton Miller As Potential Draft Target

Tom Brady didn’t receive much help from his receivers when Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola missed time this season, so perhaps the New England Patriots will consider adding depth in that area in the 2016 NFL Draft.

If so, Braxton Miller is an intriguing player to watch. The Ohio State quarterback-turned-wide receiver impressed scouts at this week’s Senior Bowl practices and caught the attention of several NFL teams, including the Patriots, according to NFL draft analyst Tony Pauline.

Miller, who’s listed at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, had 26 catches for 341 yards and three touchdowns for the Buckeyes this season after becoming a full-time wide receiver. He also added 260 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The Patriots haven’t had much success drafting wide receivers in recent years — Bethel Johnson, Chad Jackson, Taylor Price and Josh Boyce are among New England’s misses — but they definitely hit on Edelman, who played quarterback in college before becoming a receiver under Bill Belichick and Co.

The Patriots don’t have a first-round pick in this year’s draft due to the NFL’s Deflategate punishment.
