Russell Wilson Smartly Turns Fumble Into Big Gain For Seahawks (Video)

The Seattle Seahawks’ first touchdown of their frigid NFC wild-card playoff matchup with the Minnesota Vikings wouldn’t have been possible without a ridiculously display of athleticism by quarterback Russell Wilson.

With Seattle trailing by nine points Sunday and facing a first-and-10 early in the fourth quarter, a miscommunication between Wilson and his center caused a shotgun snap to soar past the signal-caller and roll nearly 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Wilson chased down the football and slid to cover it up, but rather than remaining down and accepting the massive yardage loss, he jumped to his feet, evaded a couple of Vikings defenders and fired a strike downfield to Tyler Lockett, who was standing all alone in the middle of the field.

Lockett hauled in the pass and scampered toward the end zone, ultimately being wrangled out of bounds inside the Vikings’ 5-yard line.

Wilson found Doug Baldwin in the end zone two plays later to give Seattle its first points of the postseason and, eventually, a 10-9 win.
