The Boston Red Sox have had a busy offseason, and Theo Epstein approves of what they’ve been able to do.

The former Red Sox general manager has been the Chicago Cubs’ president of baseball operations since 2011, and like he did with the Red Sox, he’s helped completely turn the team around. But he’s still impressed by Boston’s new president, Dave Dombrowski.

“(The Red Sox are) well positioned. A lot of good young players,” Epstein told MLB.com’s Tim Healey on Sunday. “They’ve added a couple of really good pitchers this winter, so it should be a fun year for them in the American League.”

Of course, one of those pitchers was David Price, whom the Red Sox signed to a seven-year contract worth a reported $217 million. Epstein said in December the Cubs were after Price, too, but he applauded Boston’s purchase.

“Price is a great pitcher,” Epstein said. “One of the best in the game. I came to admire him over the years, watching him pitch against us, so I wish him the best and the Red Sox the best. I think it’ll be a great fit.”
