Tom Coughlin has no time for New York Giants co-owner John Mara.

Coughlin, who stepped down as Giants head coach Monday, addressed the media Tuesday at a farewell press conference. After speaking, Coughlin exited the stage and swiftly walked right past Mara, who seemed to brace for a handshake, a hug or some other form of acknowledgment.

Was Coughlin’s snub inadvertent? Or was he really disgruntled about how things ended with the Giants after spending the last 12 seasons as New York’s head coach?

Pat Hanlon, the Giants’ senior vice president of communications, thinks it was all a misunderstanding.

“It was a guy who was oblivious, who had one thing on his mind: … get the hell out of there,” Hanlon told the New York Post.

Perhaps Hanlon is correct, as Mara reportedly went into the head coach’s office following the cold shoulder and hugged Coughlin and his wife, Judy. But that’s just not as fun.

A ticked off Coughlin, who’s now a free agent on the coaching market, is far more intriguing.
