FC Barcelona’s familiarity with Athletic Bilbao only will grow in January.
Barcelona hosts Athletic Bilbao on Sunday at the Nou Camp in La Liga (Spain’s first division). Sunday’s meeting is the first of three games the teams will play against each other this month, having been drawn against one another in the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup).
Barcelona is unbeaten in its last 21 games in all competitions, but three draws in its last five games have left the reigning league champions two points behind leader Atletico Madrid. Athletic Bilbao currently sits eighth in the league standings, and a visit to Barcelona isn’t expected to help the Basque club climb the domestic ranks in Spain.
