The save of the night Saturday came courtesy of a guy who hasn’t played an NHL game in 17 years.

Former Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Jimmy Waite proved during the Stadium Series alumni game that he’s still got it, robbing Hall of Famer Mike Modano with a phenomenal stick save.

The alumni game served as an appetizer for Sunday’s main event at TCF Bank Stadium, which will pit the current Blackhawks against the Minnesota Wild in the first NHL game ever played outdoors in the State of Hockey.

Chicago’s old-timers came out on the losing end Saturday, falling 6-4 to a team comprised of alumni from both the Wild and the Minnesota North Stars, who became the Dallas Stars in 1993.
