Jason Heyward Upgrades David Ross’ Hotel Rooms To Suites When Cubs Hit Road

David Ross is receiving the royal treatment from teammates in his final Major League Baseball season.

The Cubs backup catcher is known for being a character guy around the clubhouse, as was evident during his time on the Boston Red Sox, and that struck a chord with new Chicago outfielder Jason Heyward. Ross apparently was a mentor to Heyward with the Atlanta Braves during his rookie year, so now that they’re back together, the outfielder is paying it forward.

Literally.

Heyward recently texted Ross and told the 38-year-old that he’s upgrading all of the catcher’s hotel rooms to suites for every road trip this season.

“That’s one of the first emotional moments I had in the offseason,” Ross told MLB.com’s Carrie Muskat. “(Heyward) texted me this nice long message about supposedly what I’ve done for him. That was cool to start reflecting back and people you’ve played with start saying nice things.”

And if you want to see how Ross’ final season is going, look no further than the Instagram account that teammates Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo made to document “Grandpa Rossy’s” last year.
