The San Jose Sharks’ top need entering Monday’s 3 p.m. ET NHL trade deadline was improving their backup goalie position, and general manager Doug Wilson reportedly did just that Saturday.

He acquired goaltender James Reimer from the Toronto Maple Leafs, in addition to AHL-caliber forward Jeremy Morin in exchange for goalie Alex Stalock, forward Ben Smith and a conditional 2018 fourth-round draft pick, per TSN’s Darren Dreger.

Reimer has played pretty well this season despite the Leafs’ defensive shortcomings. He has an 11-12-7 record with a 2.49 goals against average and a .919 save percentage in 32 games played (29 starts) for Toronto this season.

The addition of Reimer should help a Sharks team that ranks 18th in GAA and 23rd in penalty killing.
